LayerOS never gets between you and your customers. It sits quietly behind your existing number and only wakes up when a call would otherwise be lost.

STEP 01A customer rings your normal number

Nothing changes for callers. Same number they've always used, same first port of call: your team's phones ring exactly as they do today.

No porting, no new number. You just set up call forwarding on "no answer" — a 30-second change on any UK mobile or landline, and you can switch it off any time.

STEP 02You get every chance to answer first

Your phone rings for as long as you want. If you pick up, LayerOS never enters the call — the customer talks to you, like always.

Verified human answer. LayerOS can even confirm a real person picked up (not your voicemail) before it stands down — so a call that rings out to voicemail still gets rescued.

STEP 03Only then does the AI step in

Busy on a job? After hours? Phone off? The AI answers within a couple of rings, introduces itself honestly as your business's assistant, and gets to work.

Always disclosed, never pushy. It opens by saying it's an automated assistant. If the caller ever asks for a human, it takes a message and arranges a callback — it never argues.

STEP 04It qualifies the enquiry like your best receptionist

Name, address, what's wrong, how urgent, when suits. It answers common questions from your approved knowledge — your services, your areas, your opening hours — and can even offer appointment slots from your live availability.

STEP 05You get the lead instantly

The moment the call ends you get a text: who called, what they need, how urgent. The full summary, transcript and any booked appointment land on your dashboard. The caller gets a confirmation text too — so they know they've been heard and don't ring your competitor.

Nothing slips through. If anything about a call is unclear, it's flagged for your review — a call is never silently dropped.
